Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, we would love to see you. You can book in to see a member of the team at Vale GP at any time.

We would always recommend you maintain your registration with your NHS GP Practice, but we will hold your records in tandem to ensure effective communication in the event of an emergency.

In the event of an emergency, we may be required to share certain information with emergency healthcare services; however, when you register with us, you will be asked your preference as to whether we share your information. We will not share any confidential medical information without your permission or knowledge.

With your consent, we will forward a letter and copies of your results to your NHS GP. Please note that each NHS surgery has varying wait times for updates to appear on their systems. While Vale Wellness collaborates closely with many local surgeries, we cannot influence or request appointments within the NHS.

We don’t automatically have access but can ask for records from your GP if it is relevant to your care, and if you give your permission.

Alternatively, you can request your records from your GP ahead of your appointment, and with your permission, we can upload them onto your file.

Yes, many people come to see us who are not permanent UK residents. We have many clients with visitors from overseas who fall unwell whilst visiting the UK and are therefore not entitled to NHS treatment.

Each insurance provider is different, so it’s important to check this out before you register. Many providers don’t cover primary care GP consultations but will cover tests if needed. Please speak with your insurance provider to see which of our services they will cover for you.

You can contact us at any time using our online booking form. Our team will endeavour to respond to queries submitted via our online contact form within 24 hours. Alternatively, please call within our opening hours of 8am to 6pm for additional queries.

Yes, we offer same-day appointments should you need immediate care. These appointments are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. We can also offer appointments at a later time in the day or evening to suit you; whichever you prefer.

Yes, you can request either a female or male GP at the time of booking.

Patients can request a chaperone before an appointment, or you can bring someone along with you if you prefer.

Our GPs will issue a private prescription which you can purchase from any pharmacy near you. We have an excellent relationship with our local pharmacy, Cowbridge Pharmacy, who offer a speedy and professional service.

Alternatively, Vale GP has partnered with a highly reputable online pharmacy provider, Cloud Rx, to ensure you receive your prescriptions directly to your home or office address as a next-day service.

You can choose how you would like to be contacted when you register with us. Results will be received by reception and can be shared via telephone, email, letter, or via a follow-up appointment. All our processes are safeguarded to ensure discretion and confidentiality.
